This year's Christmas called for classics, with a little twist sometimes!
- Beyond pralines: tablets, spreads and more
- Nutty flavours
- Chocolate as an experience
1 - Beyond pralines: tablets, spreads and more
Where previous years, pralines were the first choice in Christmas chocolates, in 2020, brands catered to the needs of consumers who looked for more ways to incorporate the celebrations into their days. Tablets, spreads, and nibbles with Christmas-themed packaging and limited edition holiday flavors, created festive chocolate moments for every time of day!
2 - Nutty flavours
Nuts and chocolate is a match made in heaven. Flavours such as nougat, marzipan and almond are a comforting familiarity for many consumers. Coconut, which is often associated with the warmer months, was an unexpected addition to this year’s flavor lineup!
3 - Chocolate as an experience
With lockdowns putting a stop on many consumers’ Christmas traditions, we saw a number of experience-based chocolates for the holidays. This year more than ever, chocolate is a sharing moment, whether that be playful, or a sophisticated tasting ritual.
