Upcycled foods are taking over the world! More and more consumers are taking the lead in the upcycling trend, and are craving tasty and sustainable food. They’re becoming aware of the tremendous food waste going on their planet.

Enormous amounts of food get wasted

Today an estimated 30% of all the food produced in the world, ends up as waste before it even gets to our kitchen tables. This food-wasting also results in the loss of water, and all the energy needed to grow, harvest, transport, and package it. An absolute shame, because fighting food waste is the single most effective solution to global warming.

What are Upcycled Foods?

Upcycled foods use ingredients that otherwise would not have gone to human consumption, are procured and produced using verifiable supply chains, and have a positive impact on the environment.

 

Luckily, nowadays consumers are enthusiastic about upcycled foods. They become more aware of the impacts of food losses and waste and actively want to make a change by making different choices in their purchasing decisions.

Recent studies show that about 60% of consumers want to buy more upcycled food.
