Join the upcycled food revolution, make an impact

Today, up to 30% of all the food produced in the world goes to waste. Tons of vegetables, fruits, meat, and dairy products either never leave the farm, get lost or spoiled during distribution, or are simply thrown away in restaurants, hotels, grocery stores, or even home kitchens.

Preventing food waste is the single greatest solution to fighting climate change

Did you know that our current food system is more impactful than many realize? Not only are we able to feed every undernourished person on the planet with this amount of wasted food (World Food Program USA, 2020), it is also the single greatest solution to fight climate change. We can fight global warming by preventing this food waste. Because as we waste food, we also waste all the energy and water it takes to grow, harvest, transport, and package it.

Not to mention the nutritional value of the wasted food. Gas emissions that come from our food systems could be reduced if we reduce wasting food. Reducing food waste is one of the most effective ways to help our environment and making the world a better place.

Cabosse Naturals and The Upcycled Food Association

To accelerate the development of cacaofruit upcycling, Cabosse Naturals joins forces with the Upcycled Food Association (UFA). UFA is a nonprofit organization that focuses on reducing food waste by developing the upcycled food economy. Thanks to research, strategy, networking, and policy advocacy, the Upcycled Food Association is able to build a food system where ingredients are procured and produced that otherwise would not have gone to human consumption. The UFA is all about doing more with less, uplifting food to its highest and best use, and above all: reducing food waste.

100% usage of the cacaofruit

Here at Cabosse Naturals, we contribute to this movement by developing a low waste supply chain of the cacaofruit.

Annually about 14 million tons of cacaofruits are harvested around the world. Whereas previously 70% of the cacaofruit was thrown away (as much as 10 million tons), now not only its seeds (beans) but also the dried peel, the fresh and juicy pulp are used and processed into delicious ingredients. The mission of UFA aligns entirely with the goals of Cabosse Naturals, as we upcycle the whole cacaofruit. The opportunity is ahead of us, it’s up to us to create a movement.
