1 July 2023 marked the 10th anniversary of one of our biggest acquisitions in our history - the integration of Petra Foods’ Cocoa Ingredients Division with Barry Callebaut

Petra Foods (now known as Delfi Limited) was a well-established company known for their expertise in the chocolate and cocoa industry. Exactly a decade ago, we completed the acquisition of Petra Foods’ Cocoa Ingredients Division (Delfi Cocoa) globally. By integrating the two companies’ product portfolios and footprints, we were able to cater to a wider range of customer needs and gain access to new markets and segments.

Ten years ago, we made this important acquisition because we wanted to be the world’s leading cocoa and chocolate manufacturer. We wanted to be fully integrated from bean sourcing to the manufacture of the finest chocolate and cocoa products and be the solutions provider of choice for our customers. Today, we can look back with pride at this achievement; we have strengthened our footprint and significantly expanded our capability to serve our customers around the world.”

Celebrating our people - employees, partners, customers and stakeholders

When the integration took place in 2013, we added more than 1,700 employees around the world into our workforce. Beyond the trust from internal employees, we’ve had much support from our customers and external stakeholders who testified for our credibility in the market.

This week, in Asia Pacific, the Region where the majority of Petra Foods’ Cocoa Ingredients Division’s workforce were integrated into, we held celebrations. First, it was an internal celebration with our employees to thank every employee who has played a crucial role in the successful integration over the past 10 years. Then, we also held a celebration for some of our customers and special guests including our alumni at our Barry Callebaut APAC regional headquarters in Singapore.

These celebrations create opportunities to engage with our employees, customers, and the broader community to foster stronger connections.

Looking into the future together

Milestone anniversaries provide a unique opportunity for reflection and forward-looking inspiration. They allow us to pause and celebrate our people who have contributed to what we have today.

At the heart of our journey, it has always been about our employees, customers, and the culture that brings us together. Celebrating this significant milestone with all these important people is our way of saying thank you and recognizing our past. I believe this bond forms a strong foundation for our work going forward. More than a celebration, this anniversary symbolizes resilience and adaptability, especially in the face of an ever-changing business landscape.
